Yoga Retreat: Saturday 26 April

A Personal Journey: Spirituality, Faith & Yoga

frozen soap bubble against sky during sunset

In the past year, you have talked quietly to me about your faith or non-faith practices. Some of you attend church and some of you don’t or you have done in the past but have decided the space is not for you.

For me yoga is a practice of faith. In the yoga sutras the word sraddha is often translated as faith but I prefer the phrase ‘holding to truth’ (Roy & Charlton, 2019). On my mat, I meet myself and feel the space I inhabit in my bit of the Universe. It blows my mind that I have a shape and a role in something so vast. It is beyond my comprehension but that is the truth; that is faith – isn’t it?

This retreat day has arisen because I am curious about faith and your relationship to it. This inclusive day will include yoga and conversation, with space to listen and reflect, individually and together.

Yoga practices will be simple and breath led, with modifications where necessary. The practice will be suitable for all

I am holding this space with Rachel Haig. I first met Rachel in 2012 through my bodywork and yoga practice. Over the years, we have talked about yoga, Christianity, spirituality, faith and relationship. This has naturally led to the creation of a retreat to honour individual practices and journeys in the company of others with an attitude of learning and acceptance. It promises to be a rich and heartfelt experience.
