The winter solstice falls on 21 December this year. The solstice refers to the ‘standing of the sun’. The light is slow to change at this time of year but the solstice marks the shortest day and longest night of the year. It is a time to celebrate the return of the light and to honour our own inner journey.
On the solstice we name our intentions and birth the understanding gained from our own meditations and reflections. It is a time of new beginnings. The seeds sown at the end of Autumn are germinating and making themselves felt.
This year we will meet a couple of days before the Solstice for practice and reflection in preparation for the Solstice. We will consider the year that has been; you then have a couple of days to consider the personal intentions you want to set on the Solstice, for the year ahead.
The online session will include movement and meditation, with time to write down ideas. I hope it will provide an open space to breathe and dream as well as be in our bodies.
