self care & nourishment
I have been invited to to run my yoga and reiki retreats from the Sycamores in the Carding Mill Valley, Church Stretton, Shropshire. A certain level of mobility is required: all retreats include time exploring the valley and surrounding hills and the house is on four floors with 56 steps up to the front door!
The retreats are spacious with discussions in the mornings to encourage conversation and reflection and walking in the valley in the afternoons – with community space and time to be alone
The rooms vary in size and double rooms will be allotted by ballot

I grew up living next door to Liz. I was their bridesmaid and their daughter was mine (ours). We have a long association. I find Liz and Tim’s journeys inspiring. They are firmly placed in their Christian practice with years of experience in social care. They are available for listening hours or sharing prayer (although they will be away for the June dates). This is completely optional and separate to the retreats.
Liz was a palliative care nurse and now works mainly from home as a palliative and end-of-life care educationalist, delivering online training for end-of-life care practitioners around the world. She is qualified as a counselling psychotherapist. Liz has worked as a lecturer for Macmillan Cancer Support and in the Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care at Kings College London. From 2013 to 2019 she was Director of Education and Training at St Christopher’s Hospice in London.
Tim was ordained in 1996 at Southwark Cathedral, whilst employed as a detective inspector for the Met Police. During a police career of 27 years he undertook significant roles running a large child protection team in South London and then designed and implemented the national system for the management of high-risk offenders in the community. In 2006, he became a prison chaplain and was the lead chaplain at HMP Wandsworth before becoming a senior chaplain for the Prison Service
