Individual Yoga Lessons

I offer individual lessons in Long Ashton. Lessons take place in my therapy room.

My own experience of individual lessons has been a huge support in my life and allows me to develop on a personal and professional level. Together, we work to create a home practice for you.   A home practice is tailored for your own needs and can last from 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the time you have available and what you think is realistic.  ‘Little and often’ is preferable to ‘a lot now and then’.  Your practice will provide a consistent space in which you can build relationship with and develop your yoga.

This practice follows the traditional teaching of Krishnamacharya and his son Desikachar. It is an integrated approach, working consciously with the breath to become aware of the relationship between the body and mind. The practice of asanas (postures), pranayama (seated breathing practice) and dhyana (meditation) offer a space to connect and the possibility of change.

The practice of yoga allows the body and mind to become still and supportive, encouraging a balanced relationship between strength and flexibility; allowing clarity and focus.  One of the strengths of this tradition is yoga meeting you where you are.

If you can breathe, you can do yoga (Krishnamacharya)

Yoga is safe and effective when practised within one’s own limits.  There is always an alternative or modification to allow you to experience and benefit from a posture.  This time is for you.  By the end of the first lesson, you will have a practice to work with in your own time.  I encourage you to consider a course of lessons
